art4theelect@gmail.comI had always considered myself a Christian for as far back as I can remember. My Mom was Catholic and my brothers and I were raised in that faith until she passed away in 1969 at the age of 36. I was the oldest at 12, and I clearly remember praying to God several prayers each night that she had taught me. I also clearly remember ending those prayers after Mom passed with "and Lord please make us a family again someday." My grandparents on my Dad's side were Protestant, and we went to Church with them from that time on. Grandma Wasser was my rock. She taught me a lot about the Bible over the years as a youth. While in Nashville, I formally gave my life to Christ while watching Evangelist, Ernest Angley on television. It was the first time that I actually prayed the sinner's prayer from the heart. I know that I've been saved from that moment on. Still I didn't really live a stable Christian life. For the next twenty years, I lived as a "fringe Christian", sometimes hot and sometimes lukewarm or even cold. I believed in Jesus and the salvation He provided, but I had no real foundation to keep me on a steady and stable path. I thank God that He didn't give up on me. In 2010 I read a book by a well-known tv Evangelist whose name I'll omit for legal reasons, but suffice to say here that this book and the power of the Holy Spirit changed my life. My entire perspective of Christianity changed as a result. In the book, the author stressed that Christianity is more than a religion. It is in fact, a personal and intimate relationship with God on a daily basis. In essence, the author noted that God is our heavenly Daddy and He loves us so much. When that revelation became real to me, I no longer saw prayer as simply reciting words that I had learned as a child but rather heart felt conversation with almighty God who loves me as His child. I could talk to Him on a daily basis, and even more importantly listen to what He had to say to my inner man. Now going to Church was not just some ritual that Christians do, but rather I wanted to go in order to spend time with my Heavenly Dad at His house. Christianity became personal to me. I need to stop here and tell you that I'm no "holier than thou" type Christian. I refer to myself as a "work in progress". And if there is one thing I consistently pray about is that I will continue to seek a deeper and more intimate relationship with Jesus. It really is what this life is all about to me. We have all fallen short of God's glory. All of us are sinners. But God loves us so much that He has provided us a way back to Him and that is through His Son, Jesus Christ. I urge everyone who reads this testimony to give your life to Jesus if you haven't already. He is the "Way back to God". By dying on the cross, the Perfect Lamb of God took on our sins and gave us His righteousness so that we can spend eternity with a perfect and Holy God. Invite Jesus into your heart and experience an intimacy that surpasses anything else you can imagine. Jesus loves you and He wants to share in your everyday life both here on earth and for an eternity. God Bless You All! Bill Wasser
