Bill has been painting in oils for more than 20 years. He describes his work as "Art of the C's". Of course, any artwork created in the here and now is considered to be "Contemporary". Some of Bill's paintings might be labeled as "Conventional" because they are done as representational art including still lifes, landscapes, and even a few portraits. However, Bill has not limited himself to any one genre. In fact, some of his works are semi-abstract. What one can say is that most of the paintings he creates has a message he wants to convey. Bill often starts with a single concept in mind. He then develops the work around that idea or thought whether choosing to paint from life or totally from his own conception. He is a "Christian Conservative" and many of his works reflect those values in some way. That being said, others might call those works "Controversial" although they would not have been 30 years ago. While some of his paintings might be tagged as "Art for Art's Sake", Bill would rather have his viewers first think about "what the painting says to them personally" and then perhaps ask themselves "what they think he was trying to say" with the piece. As such, the work would become both "Contemplative" and perhaps even a "Conversational" piece. With those works that have an underlying "Christian" message, Bill wants to provide prospective buyers art that can be discussed in the home with others who may come to visit. In essence, the works would become a tool, a "ministry in oil" so to speak.
